10TH
International Film Festival “Meetings in Siberia”
is to take place in Novosibirsk, September 7-15, 2007.
The motto
of the festival is “ Documentary cinema: the art of telling the truth”
The aim of
the festival is to present international documentary community and
creative feature films makers in Novosibirsk.
“Meetings
in Siberia” International documentary film festival was founded by the
interregional public organization “Meetings in Siberia” and “Art Science
Cinema Distribution” film company. The festival is held under the
support of the Culture and Cinema Federal Agency of the Russian
Federation, Novosibirsk City Administration.
“Pitamida” film video studio, “Spektra” company are the partners of
the festival.
There is
no film competition at the festival, it’s main aim is providing
conditions for the professionals to establish creative contacts and
giving them the opportunity for communication with the public.
The
contest for the Best Camera Image and the Best Cameraman’s Work is to
take place in the frames of the festival with the special awards: “A Big
camera bag” and “A Small camera bag”. The prizes have no money
equivalent. The Prize for the Best Spectator is set up by the City
Administartion.
The
program of the 10th jubilee international film festival
“Meetings in Siberia” includes films of the fireign authors from
Germany, the Netherlands, France, Great Britain, the USA, Hungary,
Serbia, Poland, Moldova, Georgia. New films by the Russian directors are
to be presented. New productions of Novosibirsk documentalists will be
shown as well.
The
international seminar for the young film directors is to be held in the
frames of the festival. The participants of the international workshop
«Passport Control» having taken place in Hungary at Mediawave festival ,
Gyor, 2007 will come to Novosibirsk. Among them is the international
production unite of the project «Performing Life» - Aaike Stuart, film
director, NL, Boris Van Hoof, cameraman, NL, and Johannes Dullin,
actor, from Germany. They thought out and shoot the film, where they
combine everyday life in the street and actor’s palying, who introduces
himself into this milieu and
revials
himself in some unusual way – plays in a real life.
Representatives from Italy, the Netherlands, Hungary, Austria, Ukrain,
Romania took part in the international meeting in Gyor, 2007. Russia was
presented by the group from Novosibirsk , who also will be the
participants of the Siberian festival.

A
famous Hollywood film editor, who started his career in the American
cinemaindustry in the mid 60-s. He got “The Oscar” for “All that Jazz”
film.
A
well-known American film editor will present at the festival his
documentary «On the edge of progress: magic of cutting» which tells
about secrets of the profession and magic force of cutting - one of the
main means of the language of cinema.
Jeanne
Berthoud,
Geneva, Switzerland.
Director, author, participant of projects on development of cinema in
Switzerland, will present her film « Hors Temps". The film was shot in
St-Petersburg and tells about the Swiss unemployed, arrived to work to
Russia.

Director of Mediawave festival, film director, organizer of the
workshop project for young directors « Passport Control » which is
held in the framework of Mediawave festival 2006, 2007. He will
present the program of films of Mediawave festival, and conduct a
master - class for the young directors - participants of the festival.

Entrance by ticket
The
seminar and master - classes for students and young directors will
take place on
September, 8 - 14 in Fan-club of a cinema "Horizont" from 12.00 till
15.00 (address:
Boris Bogatkova street, 266, bus stop "Esenina").
